Mechanical Permit Requirements
A mechanical permit is required for:
  • Installations or alterations involving the mechanical systems or fuel supply systems
  • First time installation of fixtures and appliances permanently connected to mechanical – heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
    • Fans, attic, or exhaust
    • Heat pumps and centralized air-conditioning systems
    • Gas clothes dryers
    • Solar energy equipment
    • Gas or oil furnaces
    • Gas or wood stoves or heaters
    • Gas ovens
    • Prefabricated chimneys
    • Prefabricated fireplaces
    • Gas or oil water heaters
  • Replacement of gas dryers, furnaces, stoves, heaters and ovens
