The Fire Marshal's Office is the primary agency for fire prevention in the City of Manassas. 

The Fire Prevention Code in use at this time, throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, is the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code - 2015 Edition. Visit the International Code Council for more information, or to purchase a codebook.

Hazardous operations and the storage of hazardous materials require an annual Fire Prevention Code Permit (view the permit fee schedule, adopted in 2019) which can be obtained from the Fire Marshal. 

Smoke Alarm Give-Away Program
The City of Manassas Fire and Rescue Department will provide City residents with a free smoke alarm, and install it in your home, at no charge. Request a smoke alarm by calling us at 703-368-6211 (Station 1) or 703-257-8521 (Station 21).
