Street Paving and Repairs

The City of Manassas maintains approximately 250 lane miles of roadway providing safe and easy transport for up to 40,000 vehicles throughout our community every day.

As you can imagine, our roads go through a lot of wear and tear. That is why our Street Department has an active program of road assessment and maintenance to make sure that all of our roads meet the rigorous standards set by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

In 2017, the City introduced a three-year Pavement Management Program to make improvements including street paving, curb and gutter replacement, concrete apron replacement and sidewalk replacement.

Beginning in 2018, the City established our Pavement Management Program which inspected and assessed our roads and identified pavement condition ratings. These ratings along with planned paving and utility improvements are used to establish our annual paving plans. With the assessment completed in 2023, the City has developed paving plans for 2025 through 2030 that includes the paving of our arterial roads, as well as our collector and residential streets. You can view our Pavement Management Plan here to learn more about how the City maintains our streets. Paving for 2024 has been updated to pave both arterial and residential streets. The City's Public Works department aims to advance pavement restoration throughout our community!
