The Transportation Planning Office works to implement the mobility goals of the city’s Comprehensive Plan and Strategic Plan.
Goals:

  • Reduce traffic congestion
  • Develop an improved pedestrian and bicycle network
  • Increase roadway safety for all users
  • Increase access and connectivity for all travel modes

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Update the city’s Transportation Master Plan / Comprehensive Plan Mobility Chapter every 5 years
  • Manage the planning phase of all transportation projects
  • Involve the public early in the project development process
  • Apply for state, federal, and regional funding to deliver transportation capital projects
  • Develop the transportation section of the 5-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP)

Staff works to achieve these goals and responsibilities by collaborating with regional and state transportation partners, internal departments, and members of the public to implement best practices and respond to the transportation needs of the community.
