If I am transferring in from another locality will my benefits transfer?
Yes with the exception of Day Care and only if the transfer is taking place within the state of Virginia.
Child Care - How long before my application is approved?
Workers have 45 days from the date the application is stamped as received in the agency to process all applications.
Child Care - Can I choose any daycare center I want?
Yes, as long as the daycare is willing to participate with the agency you can use them. If the agency doesn't have that center on file, they will need to complete a provider packet and submit a copy of their daycare license (Client must request the packet from their worker and have it completed). The agency cannot approve a center that is not state-licensed or is exempt from licensure.
Child Care - Can I use a family member or home provider?
Yes, you can use either as long as the following conditions apply.
1) A home provider must have a current state license and submit a copy of that license.
OR
2) If the person you want to use isn't licensed, they must complete an unregulated packet - which does include background checks. The agency will not approve anyone who isn't licensed until all background checks come back clear. (Contact your worker for more information and to receive a packet.)
Child Care - How can I help speed up the application process?
The best way to assist your worker in processing your application is to make sure that all forms are complete before submitting the application. If a worker has to get further information and you, it will delay the processing time.
Child Care - What are the maximum rates covered for daycare?
In addition to any monthly co-payment that may be assessed, Parents are also responsible to pay any amount above the Maximum Rate (MRR) allowed by the state.
Tier 1 rates refer to unregulated, voluntary registered, and religiously exempt centers.
Tier 2 rates refer to licensed centers and licensed family home providers.
