What is ALERT City of Manassas and why is it important to me?
ALERT is an emergency notification service that allows emergency officials to notify residents and businesses by telephone, cell phone, text message, email and social media regarding time-sensitive general and emergency notifications. Only authorized officials have access to the system. Residents can register for the messages they would like to receive and about which topics. And, if you find that you want to change your message delivery or which alerts you want to receive, just login and change your information. It's that simple.

When will ALERT City of Manassas be used?
Any message regarding the safety, property or welfare of the community may be sent using the system. These may include AMBER alerts, notifications of hazardous traffic or road conditions, snow emergencies and other weather related emergencies, boil water advisories or evacuation notices.

What number will I see on my caller ID?
Caller ID will show the phone number 703-257-8899 when the system is in use. Please listen to the message if you see this number.

Is this the only way to find out emergency information?
No. City staff will also update the website and social media in an emergency, but this is the most direct line of communication with every resident in the city.

Is my personal information protected?
ALERT City of Manassas is a service provided by Everbridge which takes security and privacy concerns very seriously. The City of Manassas has control of personal information and will not release it to any other parties for distribution.

I have a business located in the City of Manassas. Can I arrange to have ALERT City of Manassas contact my business?
Yes. Fill out the registration form but be sure to select the “This address is business” option. Please note that emergency calls can only be delivered to a direct dial number. Automated attendants will disrupt the process and the calls will not be delivered. Businesses should register their main number and establish a procedure for distributing the ALERT City of Manassas message to their workforce.

What does it mean if I sign up for weather alerts?
If you sign up for any of the weather alerts, for instance severe thunder storm warnings, alerts will come from Smart Weather, not the City. You can select from which alerts you wish to receive and how you get them. The City will only put out weather alerts in an emergency situation, such as a snow emergency.

If I have a landline, am I already signed up?
Yes, the City already has all landlines of residences in the City of Manassas on file. However, if you would like to receive emergency messages on your cellphone when you are out and about, then you will want to sign up and register those devices and your landline so that we are sure to have the most accurate phone numbers for you. The system will not duplicate phone calls to the same phone number.

To Opt Out of Text Messages:
Texting STOP to an Everbridge notification will prevent all future TEXT notifications to your device. In order to resume text notifications, text RESUME to 89361 within 30 days. After 30 days, your phone number will be removed from your account. You will still continue to receive any notifications to other delivery methods, but you will not receive any notifications to the number you texted STOP from, including emergency notifications from 703-257-8899.

Message and data rates may apply to text messages.  Message frequency will vary.
