At our Public Safety Facility at 9608 Grant Avenue there is a designated parking spot that can be used as an exchange zone for residents. It is located behind our building in our public parking lot. The exchange zone is for residents who wish to meet each other and exchange items that have been bought or sold using online sites, or domestic child custody exchanges.

The Exchange Zone is meant for person-to-person transactions. Property may not be dropped off and left unattended, and sellers are required to take their property with them if the buyer does not show up. The Exchange Zone is intended to give residents a safer environment for exchanges, but officers cannot stand by while the exchanges are being conducted.

VIN Etch
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Etching is one of the most effective means to deter auto theft that is currently available. Etching is a fast, safe, and simple process of having a vehicle's VIN engraved onto its windows using a chemical solution. Once the VIN has been etched on all the windows, a thief must strip and replace every piece of glass in order to profit off the sale of the stolen vehicle or its parts. Doing so it a time-consuming and expensive feat, which deters many thieves from stealing VIN-etched vehicles in the first place. Upcoming VIN Etch dates will be posted on the Manassas City Police Department's Facebook page.

National Night Out
National Night Out (NNO) is "America's Night Out Against Crime" - a time when neighbors come together and take a stand against crime. NNO helps send the message to criminals that the Manassas community does and will continue to fight back against crime. It also raises safety and drug awareness, strengthens community spirit, and enhances the partnership between residents and first responders which makes every effort of safety possible. CPTED
Crime Prevention through Environmental Design, or CPTED (pronounced "sep-ted"), is a common-sense strategy used to deter crime and create a safer environment by influencing human behavior and inhibiting criminal activity. While none of its strategies is guaranteed to eliminate future crime, CPTED is an internationally accepted method of deterring crime, both real and perceived. Live in the City?
