To schedule a pick up for Bulk Waste or Large Items:
1. Call (703) 257-8252 before 2 pm at least 24 hours before your trash collection day.
2. Report what you have to schedule for collection. Please be advised that you are limited
to 3 items per collection.
3. Set your bulk waste out at the curb the night before your collection day.

The City provides its residents with trash containers. You may also use your own hard-sided container with a tight fitting lid.
Do not put your trash bags or raw trash on the street.
Trash and recycling carts must be set out to the street prior to 6 a.m. on your collection day.
Pull your carts back after collection. Do not leave them in common areas, fire lanes, or out on the street.
What do I do with glass? The city accepts scheduled glass as bulk waste. Here is how to set it out for collection:
1. Schedule a bulk waste/large item pick up by calling (703) 257-8252 before 2 p.m. at
least 24 hours before your trash collection day.
2. Tape the glass to avoid breaking/shattering during collection.
3. Put broken glass in a cardboard box for collection and label it as “broken glass”.
Residents may dispose small amounts of prescription drugs using the following guidance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
For Pills:
1. Mix medicines (do not crush tablets or capsules) with an unpalatable substance such
as dirt, kitty litter, or used coffee grounds
2. Place the mixture in a container such as a sealed plastic bag
3. Throw the container in your household trash
For Sharps:
1. Clip the tip of the sharp or re-cap
2. Slip the sharp into a heavy-duty, leak-resistant plastic container
3. When container is 3/4 full, seal closed and label “hazardous residential sharps”
4. Throw the container in your household trash
For Liquids:
1. Keep medicine in original container. Mark out personal information on prescription
bottles
2. Mix liquid medicine with undesirable substances like coffee grounds, cat litter, or dirt.
3. Place bottles in an opaque container, like a yogurt container, and secure lid; or wrap in
a dark colored plastic bag.

Where can I take my prescriptions?
The City of Manassas Police Department has a special kiosk at 9602 Grant Ave. (Public Safety Facility) for disposing of prescription medications in their lobby. You can drop off your unused medications anytime.
