Electric Bill Rate Increase

Much of the electricity we use is generated by burning natural gas. Because the cost of natural gas has increased significantly over the past several months, the power cost adjustment (PCA) on your electric bill will be increasing. The PCA is a separate line on the electric bill and is a direct cost. The City receives no revenue from the PCA charge. For each 1,000 kilowatts of electricity you use, your electric bill will increase by $8.25.

City of Manassas changes to Committee of the Whole

The City of Manassas City Council will now hold Committee of the Whole meetings instead of separate Finance, Land Use, Legislative and Appointments committees. Committee of the Whole meetings includes the entire Council and will include reports from each of the four areas if there is an item to be brought forth from them, plus any other items that may need to be addressed in a work session setting. These meetings were consolidated as a way to enhance communication and openness to our residents while giving more ease of access to the meetings by all being on one night. In this way, those who wish to attend only need to attend on one evening.

Hydrant Flushing

Fire hydrant flushing starts April 4 and runs through May. The annual flushing will begin in neighborhoods on the western side of the city. If you notice a slight change in water color, run cold water for a few minutes so fresh water will enter your pipes. The flushing helps to maintain our high water quality. Find out more
